Huntsville?s Tennessee Valley Jazz Society, founded in 1981, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Jazz Society?s mission is to sponsor, encourage and promote the arts through youth development, health awareness and educational activities in the Tennessee Valley. Since 1998, the Tennessee Valley Jazz Society (TVJS) has presented ?Jazz Education-in-the-Schools? music education programs experienced by over 24,500 young people in the metro-Huntsville area. In-addition, TVJS has used the sport of golf (The First Tee) as a bridge to a variety of youth development activities. TVJS is a jazz-presenting organization for the Alabama State Council on the Arts. It has also been a host-presenter for the National Endowment for the Arts, with its Jazz Masters on Tour initiative. Our 24th Annual ?Jazz-N-June? Festival, June 20-27, 2010 has become one of Alabama?s longest running music festivals. ?Jazz-N-June? festival outreach strategy includes presenting educational concerts and programs to young people that supplement educational summer programs. From Sunday to Sunday, eight days and nights of Jazz related activities.
